Ebay, paypal, debit credit card doesn´t work

Was intending to get my Visa debit credit card red glowing in a christmas shopping spree but I got it only hand warm so far. I can buy rego and shit over the phone and stuff off the internet on dodgy sites but Paypal of all places in conjunction with ebay purchases does not work. I rang NAB to see whether they had some safety shit or limitations on there (these ads where they don´t let you buy cool shit because you only ever buy girls stuff) but dude reckons he hasn´t. So far there was also the option to transfer money but that is tedious and not available with this very purchase so I thought give it a shot here.

Usually I only ever went with the non paypal account option, in my desperation I even signed up. It says there is a 700 dollar limitation on there but that should do just fine for a couple of presents.

Anybody else got these problems and knows a solution other than get flat mates to buy it for you?

I have a debit card attached to my PayPal, what's the issue?

Until recently I was able to use the debit credit card without needing to sign up to paypal via paypal (there is a second option on that screen). That stopped working. Now in the process of verifying the same card to a proper paypal account. See how that goes.
