so I thought last month's quota disappeared a bit quick.

2 days into my new quota I get an email saying my quota is almost up.

Apparently I've downloaded 1692MB in 2 days. bullshit.
I've watched maybe 100Mb of youtube. tops. other than that I've downloaded nothing. received a few small emails, viewed a few web-pages.

In the few minutes it took to send them an email about this, my usage went up 60Mb. With nothing else running.

I don't have a wireless connection. Is it possible for someone to hijack my phone connection? (yes ADSL, not dialup.)

    WTF is happening?

you run any programs you can find to search for malware/spyware.. and virus checkers....

you probably have some nifty lil program resident in your system which is using your pc to help distribute child porn or something of the like...

Throw your computer against the wall.

Get yourself something like spybot - search and destroy or some other adware cleaner and run that to clean up all the crap installed.

i would use adaware first to see what is there then the other one...
and virus scan. otherwise perhaps your upload is being accounted for

go to Tech product reviews for cell phones, computers, MP3 players - CNET there you will find spybot or adaware, both are good at getting out crap, also make sure your anti virus is up to date, if you have none, you can get some thru cnet as well. If all this doesn't work, then yep, may have to reinstal.

Good luck and sing out if you need a hand.

Linky for spybot spybot - CNET.com

Linky for ad aware adaware - CNET.com

“Crashing is shit for you, shit for the bike, shit for the mechanics and shit for the set-up,” Checa told me a while back. “It’s a signal that you are heading in the wrong direction. You want to win but crashing is the opposite. It’s like being in France when you want to go to England and when you crash you go to Spain. That way you’ll never get to England!” -- Carlos Checa

try running trend housecall, if your pc is infected it is likely to effect existing security software, meaning that software may be infected and will not clean or see the actual infection, trend housecall is run from their server so should find all bugs, may take a few hours or longer to run if your already shaped

can you see how much actual traffic there has been on your router?
