  • Server Outage 27 December 04 - Santy.A Worm

    Well that was fun.

At 3am this morning, the box that this forum is hosted on was hit by a worm that looks for exploits in phpbb (the forum software the PSB forums runs on).

So that the worm didn’t do any major damage the box was unplugged from the wall at the server facility when they noticed the worm doing its thing.

This exploit was brought to my attention a couple of weeks ago however as I am a semi retarded computer user who has as much understanding of PHP and Linux as Spike has on wheelies, I wasn’t able to do much about it.

Fortunately the very person who gave birth to this forum from his Linux enriched loins – Pacman, came to the rescue and deleted the files that the worm lives and also update the forum to the new version.

Bling. No sleep and now a new forum.

Thank you once again to Pacman for coming to the rescue, I am indebted.

The forum will return to its normal look over the coming hours when I work out how to change the skins again.

    Deej

So on the eight day, after wasting time faffing about with unimportant guff like heaven & earth & the waters & sky & creatures [& having a wee kip] & man.... God created PSB (GenesiSX-R1000)

As a question, was the worm able to transfer itself itself to our PC's whilst using the fourm????

nope, its all good for forum visitors

It does not infect end user computers.

No it is a php thing specific to the forum program on the box that it lives.

                          Cannot transfer itself anywhere.
