  • HELP

    Hi all,

Need a little advise or help with my computer.

My explorer keeps crashing and westnet advised me to download explorer 6 and once i did that, i now can not use it at all.

I'm thinking about getting someone in to wipe the harddrive and then maybe reprograme it and see if i can put XP Home onto it.

Is there anyone in the PSB network that can do this, and if so how much do you charge an hour to do it.

    Thankyou all

    Marsha

Once you get a nice stable platform again, try using Netscape or Mozilla instead of Internet Explorer...

That way you don't have to worry about the exploits (read: "features") associated with IE and you get a nifty little popup blocker...

Also download yourself a copy of AdAware and a free virus scanner such as AVG (by Grisoft) ... you can get everything mentioned above by going HERE and then just typing the name in the search feature.

Some Spyware can be tricky to remove and may still hang around after you have scanned and removed the rest, so best to use the scanners on a regular basis to ensure your PC is clean, I think some Spyware software also has a protection mode feature built in that actively watches and stops any exploits before they happen....anyway, good luck with it, I hope you get it sorted.

i use firefox and it's awesome. also using adaware se and a couple of anti spyware programs. spybots search and destroy and spyware doctor.
combine them with zone alarm pro 5 firewall and it's about perfect.
i'd try running the anti spyware stuff and adaware first, then download mozilla firefox 1.0 and get hold of a copy of zone alarm pro. there's free trial versions all over the place but you'll need to find a regkey for it or scam a real copy off someone
what would happen, if this were gone, would you be there, for how long. . . . . .

Reprogramme the computer? That's a pretty big job.. it cost Microsoft a few million bucks and a few thousand people to design their operating system. I'm sure I could do a deal with you and make it 1.45 million dollars payable into a swiss bank account

On a more sensible note, the advice the guys have given above is spot on. One of the biggest things is just watching out for any particular web sites that you visit. I think it comes with experience but after a while you can often tell which sites will be dodgy.
Right now Im having amnesia and deja vu at the same time. I think Ive forgotten this before.

Some say he eats sidchrome for breakfast

Some say he only showers on even days of the week

Some say he put an R1 motor in a coffee machine

and swat, I don't look at porn. there's no need for me to look at that kind of stuff on the net. I just go out and check it out in person, plus i'm way too innocent for that.

but once again, thanks for the advise..........
