Heat press issue, electical help?

I use one of these for work, I have bought two cheap Chinese ones over the last 12 months but both have broken.

Thing is they are about 10% of the cost of a decent German built one which I really can't afford.

My second one blew up this morning, arced out.

These are pretty simple basically an iron type heat plate attached to a timer and heat control settings.

Would something like this be easy enough to re wire with halfway decent components?

I will try and find/scan the wiring diagram.

I'm not sure, a 20cm arc came out and hit the handle. (I think I wee'd a little)
That was followed by smoke.

Back at the power point there was blackening around one of the blades?

I can't see any obvious point where the arc started from.

you couldnt do it by just looking at the circuit diagram, you'd have to pull it apart, find the part responsible and try and source a similar one that fits... strange that there is blackening on the plug.. did you pull it out of the wall while it was on?

I agree whole heartedly with this Shane. Find the part(s) responsible, and find one of a similar size and look, and make it fit in there.

But I don't really trust the secondary components, would anyone be able to say a rough ball park figure on how expensive these bis and pieces would cost to just swap out all the chinese bits except for obviously the heat plate.
