  • Circumcision

OK so unfortunately my poor 11year old is gonna need a trim in the penile department.

He's developed a phimosis (probably cos his older brothers think its kewl to punch their siblings in the nether regions for laughs).

As I do not have a foreskin or a penis to attach one to, and the father of said son also has no foreskin and isn't around to provide discussion anyway, I am seeking advice and helpful hints from PSB'ers on the topic.

Has anyone had experience with adult or post baby age circ?

Whats to look out for? Particularly in the dodgy job department.

Will he want to murder me later for depriving him of his foreskin (even for medical necessity)?

Foreskin restoration - anyone know of anyone that's had this done? (Not just by tying a brick on and stretching it)

Of course, all replies should start with: "A friend of mine once had........" and no replies will imply that the respondee is talking about themselves so no dick jokes at the expense of fellow PSB'ers please!

    Its a serious business

One of my old bosses had this done at about 30. Apparently he had to much skin and was compared to an over stretched bungee rope.

Prior to us finding out he said he was off to have knee surgery and that would be the reason for his limp.

Once we did find out the poor bugger could not walk normally for a few days as the slightest rub, bump or knock could be felt, says it was like all his senses had moved downstairs.

No fonzy, but he did show us the panel beating down there and it didnt appear black, blue or crusty.

He did mention that the sensations after the surgery was different from before in the bedroom department.

He was put under general anthesthetic, work done and home the next day.

The usual taunts came to light, one that still stick in my mind:

"ive just been circumcised, does anyone need a fan belt"

So the foreskin no longer retracts, but has in the past without issue? For the record, I feel a little weird discussing your small sons genitals.

However, there is a bunch of things that can cause this, from incorrect physical manipulation (jerkin' it wrong) to skin conditions. A few punches in the dick are not going to do this. I don't know what advice you have sought from your GP or what other treatment options have been considered, but if circumcision is the first port of call then you're kinda doing it wrong.

Go to your GP, again (I'm assuming you've been once). Then go to another, then get a referral to a specialist. Your boy may be uncomfortable discussing this kind of thing in front of you, so find one he is comfortable with, there are plenty of "cool" doctors out there that he can surely connect with on some level to discuss what can be a serious condition, or could be something that can be resolved without surgery.

In short, seek more professional medical advice before having your lads weiner chopped up. Good luck.

I'm not convinced this proceedure is ever nessisary.
I remember my foreskin giving me grief when I was about 11-12, about the time I realised it was there. With a regular effort to draw it back it eventually came good. It's doing just fine now, thanks for asking.

I don't even know what the psychological effects of a parental condoned hacking at the penis would do to a young man.

After hearing some horror stories about that topic over the years, I have to agree.

My oldest friend and I know no better, so I can offer that he'll work out OK On the other side of the ledger, we never got our son "done" because we felt that he could sort it out if there were problems later on. It must be the season, my neighbours' son is booked in for the same next week.

I know, let's get the resident conspiracy theorists on board to expand upon this trend. Maybe it really is a great big plan by the Jews (or even the unemployed or Single Mothers!) to take over the world (j/k)^_^

Well, you are meant to wash it occasionally. Can't say I have this problem.

There maybe occasional medical reasons for circumcision, other than that its an outdated barbaric activity.
Good for the days before people new how to wash each day

It's not outdated nor barbaric. The reason why some countries and religions do this is purely for hygienic reasons. I had mine lopped when I was six, my brother when he was a new born. It's a useless bit of skin anyway.

                        I say go for it.

I got it done under a year ago. Doctor put it down as phimosis (it wasn't, my dick just looked like a bungee cord and was making sex difficult). HBF covered almost all of it - except like $20 for each consultation.

Spoiler tags for the rest, I'm going into graphical detail.

                          Spoiler: show
First of all, there are different 'sizes' - small, medium, large. Depends on how much foreskin you/he wants left. Second, if you don't put him under general to have it done he's going to be scarred for the rest of his life. Now onto the nitty gritty. Afterwards, his penis is going to be twice the size (diameter, not length) and look like a blimp full of blood. There will be a fair bit of dried blood under the skin that will remain for a few months. It will hurt, a lot, you move, you don't move, it's going to be painful either way. Hope to God he doesn't get a boner, it's only the 2nd most painful experience I've had behind an infection that made my whole body spasm and sweat profusely. Now the aftermath, the glans will become more porous and rough looking and will also lose a few shades of purple (or pink whatever you want to call it). The foreskin that remains will be a pinkish colour which is then attached to your good old skin colour with a decent size brown scar that goes all around. I have not noticed any loss in sensitivity.

What, do they wash with sand?

In this amazing modern age where we have discovered the wonders of soap, water and basic personal hygiene - its really not neccesary at all - with the exception of a few particular medical neccesities if things have gone badly wrong...

At that age, I would be exploring all of the other options available first - like has been said, get a second opinion, see some specialists... its not going to be a very good experience...
