Hi All,
I see some threads right now on fitness and thought it would be a good addition for anyone's fitness plan to include measuring the Resting Heart Rate (RHR).
Basically, the fitter you are, the more effecient your heart/cardiovascular system is and the lower your RHR gets.
As a guide, an average RHR is between 70-80 beats per min.
The lowest I had was when I was in the military and it was 58. Now it runs around high 70s as I'm not doing much for my fitness.
As everyone has different direction with their training, some focusing on fighting aspects, some are runners some do footy etc etc, the RHR should be a good project and indicator of where your fitness is regardless of what you train for.
I included a target heart rate option which is realistic for myself as I have monitored it before but do not feel pressured to have one if you have no clue what to aim for.
**Addition : To monitor your resting heart rate, do it first thing in the morning when you're still lying in bed.**
Professional atheletes seem to make under 40. Muhamed Ali was 32 I think. Lance armstrong - 34.
Feel free to create a post in this thread with the following template and edit it weekly to monitor your progress.
Only 20 weeks monitoring here which should reach the new year where you can make new resolutions with your fitness plan 2010!
Good luck!
