  • Importing a Motorcycle from India

Looking into doing this as the bikes seem very cheap.

Was wondering if anyone has done this and can help me, what are the total expenses incurred. Who do you use to ship etc etc

Does it cost much to make the m compliant, are the bikes of a good build.

    Any advice welcomed.

    Thanks

At a guess, by the time you get it here - if you somehow get it complied, satisfy all the entry conditions and such - you are probably looking on the wrong side of 8-10k.

so it is almost certainly not worth it.

There's probably a reason they are very cheap...

I don't know who would be able to ship them? Or what licencing requirements would be. Best bet would be to talk to DPI and some random shipping companies for a start, I'm sure they would be able to point you in the right direction or give you ball park prices. But being as it costs about $1000 ish to move a bike from WA to VIC, I doubt shipping would be cheap - though I could be wrong, and you'll only find out by asking people who would actually know.

Have you considered a Korean bike instead? Hyosungs aren't expensive, are probably (and I shudder to say it) better quality than whoever Bajaj are and certainly easier to obtain. Plus you would have better parts availibility and some form of warranty support...

Needs to be fitted with an ADR compliance plate. That will cost an arm and a leg.

The only price i've seen so far is around $8,000

Not sure there is a market for them.
