Hey guys,

Looking for someone to come out and have a look at our setup at home.

When we first got the Aerial we had about 2 TV Points. We now have 4 and about to add 3 more possibly 4.

We are getting about 80% signal on our Digital Signal on our TV and want it higher want to know if we will loose signal if we install 3 more points.

Do you have a masthead amplifier?
If not then you will definitely need one and for 7 connections prolly a fairly big one.

Yes it is - Go to a proper tv place with a mudmap of your layout they will advise you what to do.

So where is a proper TV place. Like Tandy? Dick Smiths? I am pretty good with electrical stuff just don't really understand stuff when it comes to TV Aerials. lol

Umm....Wouldnt bother with tandy or dicks...you could try these guys or just open yellow pages and look under tv antennae.

I used to be a tv aerial guy, spent all day either up on a roof or crawling under a house. But I hate heights and confined spaces, and am a complete spastic with power tools, so it wasn't the career for me.

If you're asking that much of one antenna, it's worth getting in an expert. They will wander around your roof with a field strength meter, and find the best spot for the antenna, then install an appropriate amplifier and use some beefy cabling to minimise signal loss.

If you all obviously love TV so much, it's worth doing properly. Get a community newspaper, there is always a billion ads in them for aerials.

There are easy peasy TV Signal amps out now. We have one that plugs into the power point near the TV. It has a Signal In plug, and 2 Signal Out plugs.

Could not be any ferkin easier. Running 5 outlets in this house....reminds me...might put one in the patio....for summer

Steve: they are not as good as a masthead amp. The further down the signal path you amplify a signal, the more noise is introduced. So all you end up doing if amplifying an already noisy signal.

That's why you want to boost a clean signal for best results, so that's why that are best done at the antenna.

Dude, if you are gonna do that, check what sort of cable you already have. If it's RG-59, maybe you should shell out and re-do the whole lot with RG-6 (digital capable) as it will improve the overall set-up. Cable itself is cheap, it's the connectors and the time they require that cost a little.
