What GPS navigation speed alerts are continuous till limit is attained?

Asking once again the wisdom that is PSB. After a speed alert that keeps on talking/sqealing until limit is adhered to.

So my friend is choosing a double or nothing license option and needs to avoid getting any points, and their track record indicates they need all the help they can get. They are considering a phone app or stand alone device either/or and are happy to purchase the best option

Personally I have tried a few nav aps for my Samsung galaxy S android phone and my results are as follows, is there anything better or can someone test the other options they have available for me please?

Navigon paid app: overspeed alerts simply consist of the word caution being said once 5km above limit, is there something that keeps beeping talking?
Also only alerts when a destination is programmed.
Uses the word caution rather than describing things like speed cameras, crossings etc so is not always clear what it is trying to say.

Aura sygic trial ap: overspeed alert is just a single sound and functions before or after speed limit, however once again is only a single beep.
It also only has a limited range of descriptive noises that are all to ambiguous in my opinion.
Also it doesn't use many street names and often uses street route names unfamiliar to me like route 31 instead of winthrop ave etc

speedview has the overlimit function, but i've never tried it.

Although the speed seems accurate comparing it with other gps devices.

I think that's a really unreliable way of controlling speeding. The speed zones programmed into GPS devices are often wrong and it would be no defence to claim you were doing the speedlimit the GPS told you.

i think it's just a case of learning how to drive properly and paying attention and keeping an eye on the speedo. Aim for 5km/hr under the limit

^^ Congratulations. Give it a rest and be helpful? It's all too easy to lose your licence in one hit on a double demerit weekend, who cares what he did.
If the "friend" wants to stick to the speed limit, give him every opportunity. If a speed alert can train him to, then let the man have a speed alert.

Constant, annoying as hell beeping as soon as you exceed the limit - except it needs to be hardwired to the vehicle, and isn't GPS-linked - needs to have the speed limit manually adjusted for each different speed zone.

Alternatively, email these guys and ask them if theirs is a constant alert? Speed, Fines, Speeding Ticket, Speed Alert, Speed Zones, Speed Limits, Speed Cameras, PDA, Software, Drive, Fast, Signs

I'm hoping this doesn't get removed. It's important, and I'm not trying to be a prick.

From what you've written your friend either has difficulty obeying rules or does not understand them. There's plenty of us that understand them but choose to bend or break them either through necessity (generally cars trying to squash us into a wall/push us through an orange light/etc) or for shits and giggles. (Sometimes called time and place)

Your friend is almost without a license, fair enough, lots of us have been there too. But relying on gadgets and gimmicks to help you pay attention while driving...that isn't good.

I would suggest driver training. In all seriousness. Defensive/offensive driving course - whatever it takes to make them realise that they need to pay attention and not have a machine tell them "brake here, hot spot here etc".

Not what you were after I know, but hopefully food for thought.

1) If she's driving a car then make sure it's got cruise control. Must have cruise control.
2) Get a GPS, preferably a TomTom. PM me an email address and I'll send back my Points Of Interest file that has the 16 (soon to be 24) fixed location speed cameras. Set your GPS to alert you when you get to within 300 metres of one of those points. VERY useful!
3) Having a GPS in the car will also show your actual speed and you'll learn how accurate/inaccurate your speedo is.
4) Contact Elise from dontgetcaught.com.au about a gadget that reminds you of speed cameras and school zones. Alerte GPS 700 by Wikango
5) Learn to stop at every single stop sign. Don't roll through any of them. It's bloody irritating, but it's legal.
6) No u-turns over double white lines. A three point turn is legal. Go figure. As long as you reverse a few cm then it becomes a three point turn instead of a u-turn. Welcome to legal fine print.

Edit: in about two and a half years of driving a taxi I've driven well over 200,000km. I have a grand total of one single infringement, for doing 15k/hm over on Leach Highway in Willetton at midnight on a Monday night (ie 85 in 70 zone). Two points and $150. Licence is clean apart from that one. So, it can be done.
