  • Old skool auto mechanic.

My wifes 68 Mustang is in need of some engine work ( burnt exhaust valve ) can anyone recommend a decent mechanic in Perth who specializes in older type cars?

    Cheers.

I know one that has been working on Valiant engines since about age 5, he now works mainly on WRX's but he knows his stuff across the board a burnt valve would be a piece of piss. His garage is in Malaga I will get his number for you if that isnt the other end of the Earth from where you are. Just let me know.

Cardale Motors - speak to Basil. Absolutely the most honest and straight-down-the-line old-school mechanic I have ever met.

A 68 head remove repair replace would be a really easy job to do. Should do it yourself

Try Mick at MP Performance on 0417 998 792 - have a chat to him.

He's the epitomy of old school performance. Well known for his blown 350 chev in that burgundy HG ute driven by Stewart V as well as an assortment of others doing 10 sec quarters.

I also believe he's a cylinder head specialist to boot with no job too small so for cylinder head/valve issues he's definitely your man.

It looks like unleaded fuel is the culprit so the heads will need to be set up to run on this stuff they call petrol..

I really hate working on cars, especially when they are not mine.

yeah i had to get all the valves and stems replaced and head cleaned up with my Brougham.
Cost me about $400 from memory (2 heads - V8) but after that never had an issue with running premium UL

i think i used MP Performance too, from memory...

yeah took both heads in myself.
that was for machining, acid cleaning and painting of both heads.

My car was leaded, so I bought edelbrock heads - problem solved . Might be worth looking at performance heads if you have to pay anyway?
