  • The end of Bali as a tourist destination?

I'll reserve my comments about the stupidity of religions, but would you go there if you couldn't enjoy a tipple?

sweet jesus, no. Where are all the trashy bogans and associates going to go now if they can't all pack themselves into Kuta/Legian/Seminyak?
They might even discover there are decent places overseas outside of Bali for just as cheap. This could be the worst thing to happen to overseas travel since Americans

                Rotto?

But yeah, ban alcohol hey? One can see the obvious connection with Bali but there are people in the larger islands who are making a nice living selling what they shouldn't be touching. Just got to charge more to may more people off I guess!

Worked in the strictest Muslim countries in the world and can still get boozed up with a little effort and a small bride. Failing that goto nearest 5 star mega hotel and they always have a bar. My 5 cents says it wont happen.

Might be a worthy destination when it isn't full of drunk bogans.
“Crashing is shit for you, shit for the bike, shit for the mechanics and shit for the set-up,” Checa told me a while back. “It’s a signal that you are heading in the wrong direction. You want to win but crashing is the opposite. It’s like being in France when you want to go to England and when you crash you go to Spain. That way you’ll never get to England!” -- Carlos Checa

They might also learn that being shit-faced and acting like complete arseholes in a another country not surrounded by equally maggotted compatriots (or catered to) may land them in a shit-load of trouble.

I remember doing a vineyard tour in Capetown and the tour leader encouraging everyone to take it easy. Halfway through the tour we have an Irishman and an Aussie trying to take over the bus - handled. Back in town, both get rolled and robbed at ATMs.

money talks, no matter where you are. i doubt that indonesia will turn away millions of stupid tourists' dollars in the name of being true to their even stupider religion.

ok... and for those of us who just want a few drinks and have no intention of getting 'plastered' and becoming angry bogans?

no, i wouldnt go again. i rarely drink, but if im on holidays, chilling in a pool, on a 35+ day, im gonna enjoy my mojito.
