They would have taken it elsewhere and just dumped it, preferably to being caught opening it at some ones house, I reckon.

Unfortunately Daise it is up to the sender to claim for reimbursement as they are the customer that paid the transporting fees. I would advise against an authority to leave without signature as the courier service can wipe its hands of responsibility should the article disappear or be damaged after delivery.
Startrak is owned by Australia Post.

If the costume had stunk of moth balls would you be responding the same way?

Ok, excuse my grumpy response yesterday. What I should've said was this:

Daise, I think you should just let this one go. The courier will deny they opened it and defend their actions by referencing you giving them an authority to leave. The cops won't give a shit due to the minor nature of the complaint and the difficulity of finding out whether the parcel was opened prior or post delivery. Pursuing this will ultimately result in more frustration rather than any level of satisfaction or justice.

You probably don't have time to obtain a replacement prior to Halloween dispite the helpfulness of the seller & although the costume has been violated in some manner, apart from the smell it is undamaged.

The smell will wash out in one wash. Give it two if you want to be sure. I worked as a barman in the bad old days and my clothes stank after every shift. One good wash (long cycle with plenty of fabric softener) used to completely get rid of it.

Have a nice Halloween party, please post a nice piccie of your costumed ankle biter here and chalk this one up to experience.

In future get your parcels delivered to your workplace. Your fagging neighbour is a douche.
It didn't look that far on the map...

If the smell is that bad and it wouldn't be hard to find out which neighbour it was, I moved back to my parents recently and they r both chain smokers so as soon as u open the door as a non smoker the smell hits u in the face like a sack of bricks. U can wash it with the liquid softener stuff and that will sort out the smell as well as airing it out for a day or 2.

Yep, 2. Second one's about to pop in six weeks too. Desmo and I were just gaping at each other last week thinking about how old we are now!

Update: Gave the sender a call this morning to see if they had hear anything from Star Track, but no luck so far. In the meantime, they have offered to send a replacement and have given me a reply paid address to send the damaged costume back.

The costume itself was supposed to be plastic wrapped, but the culprit has disposed of it so I don't even know if I've received all of the components (and honestly I have nfi who has dealt with it, and would rather not touch it).

But at the end of the day, I'm extremely happy with the customer service from CostumeBox. They've been very helpful and I'll definitely use them again.

Startrak managed to misplace a full DRZ exhaust system I ordered, checked into Perth warehouse, lost for more than a week. Couldn't find it, until the following week. Offered to come down a look. Mentioned it was the size of a cardboard coffin big enough to house an average build male. Surprise they found it.
