Thanks guys. This was kind of a way of coming to terms with things, just writing stuff down, reading it again, erasing it and doing it all over. It was a week today that it happened, and I just feel kind of empty inside, but I guess it's better than feeling like my chest is being squashed in a vice. Every now and then, something happens that triggers the emotions. Still knowing why is really eating at me, better know before the funeral next Friday

I have a friend who was sitting at home watching the TV, he had recently had a flu and his feet started tingling and went numb, the numbness traveled up his legs and started in his hands, he called out to his daughter, who rang an ambo. The numbness continued until he stopped breathing, his daughter began CPR as his heart stopped.

He spent one month in I.C.U. on full life support, paralysed aside from being able to move his eyes and blink.

He took nearly two years to return to being able to walk but has still not fully recovered. If someone had not being there he would have died. He is still regularly contacted by specialists from around the world as he is the only person to have survived from such a severe case.

I often wonder and have never checked if they check for this syndrome in an autopsy as I imagine a few people pass from it.

I now know two people who have had "Guillain-Barre syndrome", one made a full recovery but was an extremely fit 21 y.o. Another I don't know personally is Alistair Clarkson, The Hawthorn coach who was afflicted recently.

Wow, I cannot even imagine what you are going through, I don't think anyone can.

Some excellent words of advice in your first post and if it helps just one person then your post has made an impact.

I really hope you get the answers you need so that you can start to process what has happened and take baby steps forward.

I have never met you but the fact that your first post was to help others hopefully never suffer the same as you shows character in bucket loads and I tip my hat to you.

Really puts everything into focus, chin up and just know that the PSB community is here to help in any way required.

                Regards

Do you need/want any help on the domestic front... some ready-cooked meals (caseroles and the like are a great solution here) cleaning, a little gardening assistance or even the paving swept or lawn mowed?
PM me or shout out here.
