  • Decided to try my hand at making a scrap knife - with a rough heat treat attempt.

    • In a similar vein has anyone else been watching Forged in Fire recently?
Some really interesting weapons being produced on there, even my missus has been getting into watching it
Plus a mate of mine has started setting himself up with a forge etc to start making knives so may spend some time with him and give it a go

      • Latest one from a Wiltshire file.

Makes a great boning knife, but wow, it's tough steel to work with with only basic gear...

Pretty unique looking knife due to the left over file serrations.

Drop into PSB... Some political stuff. Some MotoGP stuff. Last race was fantastic.

              Then this. Skut, Very nice.

Cheers. It's certainly not going to pass any food safety standards

                      It's strictly to be a carving knife/slicer

I'm not a fan of knives but appreciate the workmanship shown in this thread.

Not only that, but knives can do more than just kill. They can cut rope, spread Vegemite and help with an ingrown toe nail. BTW, whats wrong with killing?

                            Do you eat meat?

Whats that brass thingy that holds it together? A rivet of some sort?

Just a bit of brass rod, helps locate and helps the glue hold it all together securely.

Just another fuckwit Greenie/Vegan type that equates any tool with something sinister They are the sort of person that wouldn't question having a shovel or spade yet you could kill someone with one if you really wanted and at a greater distance than with a knife

Do they just use their hands to prepare & eat everything?
