  • World Record Balloon attempt Northam

Up early and head off with my daughter to Northam for sunrise and in time for the launch of Fedor Konyukhov on his around the world record attempt. I found that I had parked next to one of my Avon Valley Black Dog Ride committee members so a good catch up as well.

I remember getting the morning off school in 2001 to go see Steve Fossett taking off from Northam at the crack of dawn.

The announcer came over the PA and said 'come down to the front, we've got some Bud Lite merchandise to give away... As a kid I thought he meant Bud 'light' and expected to be given a little torch, but got a stubby holder, keyring and hat haha.

Was approached by Toyota Russia to do the official sponsors photos for this but the bad weather delayed their take-off by a week and I couldn't make it. Spewing!

                      all over bar the landing.
I think he has to bring it down safely on his own to count.
appears to heading towards Bencubbin at the moment. certainly passed his finish line at northam.
