Was it a full or partial pneumothorax Mastermage? As for flying, I had two partial pneumothorax’s in my late teens and early twenties and was flying light aircraft again within a week so I don’t see how Skydiving from a non pressurised aircraft from say 7,000 would be an issue.

I would be sus on SCUBA tho, had two of them myself and I too am not going to push my luck.

So on the eight day, after wasting time faffing about with unimportant guff like heaven & earth & the waters & sky & creatures [& having a wee kip] & man.... God created PSB (GenesiSX-R1000)

i'm not allowed to scuba or control a plane either - but mine is coz i've got some titanium plates in my head from when i got assaulted about 6 months before i had my bike stack and fuct my leg. as part of my leg rehab i was put in the hyperbaric chamber and whilst in there i had a fit - therefore no controlling planes (i did aeronautics at high school and had intended to take it up again) or scuba which i used to do at least once a month

i'd go skydiving though. except for not wanting to root my leg anymore than it already is. my brother did it last year on the gold coast and absolutely loved it.

One whole lung had collapsed -completely- it was like a deflated balloon in the x-rays, the other was okay but it felt like I was inhaling and exhaling hot needles for 8 hours before I went to the doc's. My GP brought 3 other docs in to listen and said he was calling an ambo to take me to hospital. When I got there they tried sucking the air out with this big arse needle then they stuck a chest tube in for a week and a half with that damn blood-bottle at your side all the time, still didn't do anything so they cut me open and fixed me up. Now I have staples in my lung.

It was the worst pain I've ever felt. And the feeling of a tubes tickling inside your chest and being pulled out of your pleural cavity with only local anasthetic is just plain freaky.

I dont understand about the skydiving thing, maybe I should talk to some more doc's about it.

I dunno, I think I'd rather jump out like a nutter than being strapped to some big burly man, but I've heard that a lot of places only let you go out on your first jump tandem. It'd still be fun as hell though.

you can jump on your own. i enquired 6months ago about all of the options. its cheaper to go tandem, but i rekon it'd be way better to do it on your own (you have 2 instructors falling next to you incase you forget to pull your chute  )

i think i looked at wa skydive academy in northbridge.

                          they operate out of pinjarra

id be very interested if you can find out the cost

if ya plan on jumping more often than just once or twice, then do the accelerated freefall course, which is a series of about ten jumps, all solo, where the first two are expensive (about $450 or $400 per jump, but by the time you get to the 6th jump it is down to about $110 per jump, then the last couple are down to about $65 each. at the end ya have your licence and you can jump cheap all the time...... i am trying to save for that, but a new bike takes priority

Yeah the WA Skydiving Academy is good, it is like5 mins from my house and I have jumped with them before from 10 000ft, it was fuggin wicked!!!!

They operate a twin engine Piper Navajo and a single engine Cessna 182. We go passed there alot on the southern counrty runs.

Would highly recomend them and in a few months I may even be actually doing some flying for them 8)
