Yep, I got my IP phone working fine on a D-Link DES-3250TG 48-Port Managed Layer 2 switch.......piece of cake to configure the phone - (IP, mask and default gateway)

All switching should be hapening at layer 2 anyway....

A switch that low down the food chain shouldn't be raping or adding anything to the packets it should just be sending it to a different destination on your network....higher end switches (cisco etc) can tag / encapsulate packets for different reasons, but this shouldn't be happening on the netgear's....

I don't see why it didn't work, thats pretty interesting..are you sure your configuration is correct?

I have one of THESE and Nath and I have tested several VoIP conections using it...worked well.

Any of the little switches you can get for about $50 will handle VoIP no worries...

make sure you get a Switch and not a Hub.

I tried the Netgear FS108 switch and she no work!

I think the switch needed needs to be a minimum of Layer 2?!?!

    Calling all nerds.......

I urgently need a 8-port ethernet switch which must support VoIP.
Does anyone have one I could borrow for a week or know of where I can buy one at a reasonable price?

    Thanks!
Working...
