Gas Hot Water system: Recommendations for supply & install of?
Thought about getting a gas-boosted solar hot water system?
Best of both worlds, and last I checked there's a green government rebate for owners who install a SHWS.
/hippie rant.
We find our solar/electric one excellent - 180L tank between 3 people (4-6 showers a day + washing + dishes) hasn't needed boosting for the last week or so with the sunny weather.
If you do go solar, just make sure you are able to have the booster operate on a timer, otherwise you end up using it as a normal hot water system.
Am thinking of just getting an instantaneous gas system since it's just me in a 3x1 unit.
The solar-gas booster would give me a warm and fuzzy but at an extra $4k ($3.5k with rebate) probably not really worth it for me.
Looking at this, with 4ppl in the house it would take nearly 10yrs to break even.
