Just got an automated reply with totals, as stated in the auction.

Now for the moment of truth: do I follow through, possibly entering a world of no refund/substitute product hurt from Hong Kong.

Or do I be bold an brave, standing tall like a man, only quietly moistening his pants with fear?

My dreams, my hopes, my wild delusions! Shattered!

      Dear Sir,

The Item you bought is wrong in selling price. There is
missing 1 in the front of the item. It is 1649.99 AUD. This price also
attractive. If not, we will cancel this order. Looking forward your reply.
      Have a nice day.
Oh well, it was nice while it lasted.

Unless you're in a hurry to get something mate I'd wait it out a few months for the 450D to get released and see what that does to the pricing.
Also from what I see about buying from ebay is you're only saving about 15% on buying locally (when they have specials on) once you include shipping etc. IMHO on stuff like this I don't consider the $100-$200 saving worth the 0 warranty and aftersales service.

That auction page is a mess! I dont like your chances at getting the goods out of them at that price even if you kick up shit with ebay

Picked it up this arvo, Nikon D40, ex-demo, cheap cheap. Proper warranty and stuff for not a heap more than eBay.

Get a canon, I got the lens (28-300mm f/3.5-5.6) for you for $300.

                  It does everything you'll need.

Nice choice. The D40 still works with auto focus right as long as it's not one of the old style motorised lenses?

and am about to order a 55-200 vibration reduction lens thingy, and maybe a speedlight for the wedding in July

edir: Azathoth - bingo. I don't have any lenses, so it's not a drama for me. I'll just amke sure whatever I get is the right type.

The old style lenses are bunk anyway, noisy and slow. So it's not a real big loss. Enjoy your new toy
