  • PC/Hardrive - TV

Okay so i want to play movies/tv shows/music ect on my tv through a computer which is connected to a 1TB external hardrive.

I've got a XBOX360 hooked up to the TV and i tried to go through that using windows media center but couldn't get it too work .

Is there any easy way to do this? How do you guys do it? Is it possible to simply buy a USB to 3RCA cable to somehow show the image on the computer and project it through the TV? Please halp.

    Many thanks.

Your video card should have video out as either digital or dvi
just connect to tv and whatever is on your desktop will show
then just queue up that por.... Er movies

If your Xbox 360 is connected to the same network you can share the videos on the external drive and play them on the Xbox. Otherwise you can just plug the external hard drive into the USB ports on the Xbox 360 and play it that way.

As randomman said, if its connected thru the network to your xbox do the following.
Dont use media centre unless you want to record/watch t.v with your xbox.

Open up windows media player 11
          Do the following:

Add to library the folders where your movies/music/etc is.

you can get an s-video to rca cable converter and then just run that and the 2 sound rca's to your telly

thats what i have at home although i have cable going from my computer to the telly which is in another room.

Not very neat but gets the job done

Assuming your xbox and pc are on the same home network

                    TVersity - Download

Easier than Windows media player and also free....

Seriously, I used this for over a year through my xbox360 an PS3, works like a charm

No problems, just learnt all this stuff myself a couple of weeks ago connecting mine up. If you DO want to watch normal T.V thru the network and media centre, then TVersity as 2wheels4sure said is the good way to go.

However just for streaming stuff. much easier using the Myvideo menu.
                        Enjoy your por....Movies!
