  • Tropical island holidays

Going over a few options on a holiday destination for myself and the girlfriend over Xmas and New Year and looking for some opinions from people who have been.

Currently considering Koh Samui (off Thailand) and Bora Bora (Tahiti).

From photos alone Bora Bora looks more scenic and beautiful, but having never been to either I have no idea.

So some thoughts on the above and what you liked/disliked would be great.

    Cheers.

Heading up to Koh Tao soon, can't wait (this is not helpful, I know).

You might wanna PM cowasaki, she's done a fair bit of travel through Thailand...

My brother lives in BKK and I've now done a fair few trips to Thailand - Koh Samui and Koh Pha Ngan are definitely ON the beaten track these days and are much more commercialised than they used to be - yuk. I don't think much of the diving in that part of the gulf anyway so I'm probably gonna try to get to Koh Chang/Koh Mak around New Years - the area towards the border with Cambodia is way less developed.

Me and the missus went to Langkawi in Malaysia and really loved it but it may not be everyones cup of tea.
