Ten-year-old boy 'held up store, fled on scooter'

    September 25, 2009 06:05am

"KIDDIE thugs" as young as 10 years old are running rampant in a small Australian town, terrorising the community with violence and crime.
He looks just like any other young boy buying a loaf of bread for mum, but just minutes before, this 10-year-old, pictured right, allegedly used a replica pistol to hold up a video store as his 14-year-old accomplice waited outside - their getaway car a scooter.
The pair are part of gangs of kiddie-thugs, some as young as nine, who are running rampant in the Hunter Valley town of Muswellbrook, terrorising the community with frequent acts of violence and crime.

Business owners told The Daily Telegraph yesterday they felt under siege from the youth gangs and said the children consider themselves untouchable due to their young age.

In Tuesday's video store robbery, the boy allegedly threatened to kill the store clerk, 18, if she told anyone.

After allegedly making off with a small amount of cash, the boy was caught on a security camera in a shop just 200m away, calmly buying groceries with the money he had stolen. He and his alleged accomplice were questioned by police, but were released "pending further inquiries".

Video-shop owners Daniel and Renae Smith said the brazen daylight robbery typified the attitude of troublesome youth unafraid of police.

"It's unbelievable how young these kids are," Mr Smith said. "I mean, their getaway vehicle was a scooter." The couple, who also own a nearby newsagency, have been broken into twice in a month and store windows were often smashed.

They said the boy and others in his gang were well-known in the area for their frequent shoplifting raids.

"We're getting quotes today for CCTV cameras and we're putting extra staff on so we always have two people in the shop," Ms Smith said.

"But unless there's a tougher stance from police there's only so much you can do - these kids know they'll just get a slap on the wrist."

Muswellbrook pizza store manager Bronwyn Jordan has lost count of the number of windows that have had to be replaced after youths destroyed them with bricks and rocks.

She said gangs of up to 10 children, usually under the age of 16, caused trouble most days.

"They stand there calling you filthy names that no kid that age should know," she said.

"It's uncontrollable - they need to have consequences for what they do. They can't just be allowed to think 'I'm under 15 so I'll be let go'."

Hunter Valley area commander Superintendent Des Organ said that police officers had not detected any increase in juvenile crime.

It's like that up in butler. It starts with stupid poms that clearly grew up in england whinging about immigrants(no offenceto poms, theres one in every bunch), and I have more trouble with the tiny ones than the 16+ year olds.

Breeding should be illegal without some form of qualification. If you've ever seen the movie idiocracy, I guarantee you that it will eventually become reality.

You talk about domination, but have you ever caress her spine with your fingertips, Bedded her for the night, or gotten lost in her beauty?

Good find RT, I agree with most of it, I have one lower IQ child which I dis pare of, but a plus is her daughter just happens to have a very high IQ to balance it out, from the father I'd say.

I would hate to live in a place like that, must be pretty redneck overall though??? Andy is in Halls Creek atm and does not like it at all, was there on pension day and said they were all out drinking on the streets, he didn't leave the car when it got dark!! He's sleeping in the cruiser. He can't understand how his daughter can live and work up there, each to their own I guess. I was in Leonora and Kal when I was young for a year or two, not sure I could go back to either now though unless passing through

Beat them until your hand hurts and then beat them for making your hand hurt. Some women need to learn to ban their vagina's until they can control what plops out of them.

A mate of mine's brothers kid has the propensity to be a little monster.
Ask him to stop and he carries on (hitting/yelling etc) and gets worse.

Picked him up by the shirtfront with one hand. Pointing at him the other.
Told him off calmly. Put him down.
                        Behaved all night.

You don't need to beat them...

I caught a flight back from NZ and this trollop with 5 yr old son caused havoc for half the flight (then he fell asleep). The little shit threw objects around and his feral mum screamed at him everytime. Unbelievably his name was Damien. Anyway, the big burly head steward came down the aisle and picked up a thrown missile and said to sweet Damo "I want you to sit down be quiet and LISTEN TO YOUR MOTHER" Little Damo took a breath and replied "Fuck off". Big steward's jaw dropped and he disappeared back to Business Class. 30 nearby passengers were giggling a little.
Not really sure what the answer is. I guess we need brats, to balance up all the goody two shoes out there.
