Aircraft nuts will appreciate some of these I think . It was an awesome day but I got very badly sunburnt...

Red Arrows aerobatic team on the flight line

    Eurofighter.

    Royal Navy Sea Harrier

Apache! Also note the ordnance and the Longbow in the background

Predator drone. This one was just a mockup

X35 Stealth fighter - still in development but slated to replace the Harrier starting next year. Also possibly the RAAF.

    BUFF!!

B1-B Lancer. This thing was F*CKING loud. Easily the loudest on the day

    My favourite...the A10.

Seven barrels of tank bustin' fun

    Apache doing it's flare thing

Red Arrows and a Spitfire flypast

Spitfires. My second favourite of the day

    Red Arrows

The B1 taking to the skies. Like I said, bloody loud. I could feel my internal organs rattling as it took off

    More available on request

Actually known as the GlobalHawk and isn't a drone as such but rather a Robot aircraft, able to fly to a designation and loiter for recon purposes, can even take off and land on its own.
Feed 'em to the pigs, Errol....

Orright you geezers here are some more

Some inert Apache ordnance. The missles are supposed to be AGM?? Hellfire and the gun rounds are of course 30mm

Mighty F-15. Dunno whether or not it was a Strike Eagle

U2 Spyplane, which was used as recently as the Iraq war

Yes, there was a C5 Galaxy, and Lord, the interior was BIG. More the hangar deck of the USS Enterprise than a freakin cargo plane!!

Business end of the B1 Lancer. Nice burners. Loud MoFo.

Up close and personal with a B52. There were 2 of them there on the day (and 2 Lancers too)

EF2000 Eurofighter doing its thing to wow the crowd. Also a very noisy aircraft. I have another pic from behind with its 'burners lit

B52 taking to the skies. Quite noisy, but not as noisy as the planes with 'burners. But still heaps louder than a 747, probably because it has double the number of engines

All in all it was an AWESOME day. My mate also took some piccies and when I get some of his I will upload them here also. When the B1 took off we just looked at each other and said "faaaaarrk!!!!"

The X35 was also a mockup, and I was a little dissappointed that there werent any former Commie MiGs or SU27s there to represent the best of Russia. Perhaps another time.

As to why we dont get them in Australia...your guess is as good as mine. In fact as I was walking around gawking at all these toys I was wondering the same thing. Our gay Government that is so out of touch with real life probably thinks that an airshow in WA is a waste of time, too expensive or both. My Dad used to say that he went to one at RAAF Pearce in the late 60's but I dont think there has been once since then.

There is another airshow in September here, a Warbird one this time, at Biggin Hill. Some may recall that name from the RAF days and the Battle of Britain, its a civilian aerodrome now (think Jandakot airport and you are on the right track). Its an anniversary of the end of WW2 sort of thing so I will be going to that one...and I will be able to take more piccies and upload them here for you lot to enjoy!!
