  • ITU Long Distance Triathlon World Championships this weekend. Langley Park

There’s another international event on our doorstep - the ITU Long Distance Triathlon World Championships, (started yesterday) and finishing on Sunday 25 October around Langley Park.

Course map, event schedule and road closure information available from the website.

    The Event:
Over 1000 athletes will endure a 4 kilometre river swim, 120 kilometre bike ride and then a 30 kilometre run, pushing their bodies to the limit to be crowned World Champion. Besides elite athletes, there are age groups categories starting at 18 years and ending with an 80-years plus age group, vying for a share of the US$75,000 prize pool.

Australia is arguably the strongest triathlon nation in the world, boasting Ironman champions Craig Alexander, Chris McCormack and Michelle Jones – come down and cheer the Aussies on!

There’s also a paratriathlon, an aquathlon (swim and run), and a schools triathlon that will take part as support events to the World Championships.

More information can be found at LDWORLDS

Swim, ride, or run to Langley Park for a great weekend of sporting action!
