  • How to be romantic, for the newly weds, newly mets, the long sufferers and dreamers

In conversations with some beautifull females, the topic Romance has reered it's mountanus face, yet again.
This seems to be very important to the female side of our society and less so to the male fraternity.
Ladies want to be seen as a whole person and treated accordingly, but the males look more for the "action man" part of the deal.
Maybe a nice topic from both sides with constructive pointers and hints on how we could be more in tune with, and be able to convey our love, to the "other sex"
For once I would like to be a mod with a post delete tool, to delete tools posts.

I think it works both ways I know a few chicks that while they like the idea of being romantic, have not got a romantic bone in there body (and im not talking bogans or sluts, just regular females).

In my opinion it also comes down to the couple and what they each (and as a couple) think constitutes 'romantic'

I have found that Daniel Steele has a lot to answer for. His novels create a delusional image of what is romance in a perfect world surounded by butterflies and unicorns.

I am sorry , but shit aint like that.

I personnally go out of my way to make my partner feel special, and i find that doing it because i won't to, is a far better reason than feeling i have to.

Is that not what makes it romantic?

..and yes movies/novels etc exaggerate fictional 'romance'

You mean Danielle Steele and HER novels, right? As if a guy would ever write that crap

But seriously now. Women have some pretty low expectations when it comes to romance, its not that hard to come out looking great.

Leave her a nice letter every now and then.
Drop a single rose on their doorstep and leave a note.
Take her out for a suprise dinner at sunset, hotel room, champagne.
          etc etc etc

Many end up dating and seeing douchebags, which makes it even easier to look like the greatest and most romantic thing alive.

          one thing I find though.
Women are incredibly keen for all this romance from men, but so rarely give anything back in a similar way - its a one way street a lot of the time (like many things with male/female relations)

Some people don't have that in them. So they go looking for ideas and it isn't from the heart, but from the head.

                Pfft romance

Girls say they want romance but what they want is a bang on the head (politely engaged in intelligent conversation. We are not ruffians here) and to be dragged back to the cave ( seduced with charming witicisms and compliments ) and given a good seeing to nice and hard. (and given a good seeing to nice and hard).

Has the interweb & porn accesability distorted the minds of men & woman?
Yes, Television and magazines were before internet so it has been a gradular effect if this is deemed a factor?

Watching the notebook atm. Shit is like Romance 101. I think its some warped fantasy women have developed since they inherited the right to vote, give them a little and they just want more and more....

i refuse to watch that movie...

am i the only one wondering about the poll options and the title...? it could be just me, but i don't necessarily equate a great lover with a romantic partner.

i've a knack for dating pricks, so i have to agree with earlier statements that it really doesn't take much to be romantic. what REALLY matters to me though is whether you're being romantic to pull a root or because you actually love the person and want to make them feel special.
EDIT: either reason is fine, but i'd rather know the motivation behind it....

lots of woman are way more emotionaly involved with ALL aspects of life.
                        example;
My Much Better Half is even attached to our 4wd and in no way am I allowed to trade it in on a new one.
That is,.... till it breaks down, the moment it does that, it is OUT DA DOOR and where is my new un!
I have (been) broken down and waiting for the knackers yard to give her a take away $$ figure hehe!
