I need some new A/Ts for the weekend 4WD. 265/65/17, 5 of. I was thinking about Nitto Terra Grappler G2s or BFG K02s (different ends of the pricing spectrum) from my usual local.

Hi and thanks for the enquiry for 5 tyres. I can get you the Nittos or the Toyos for the same price of $290 or the BFG's or Cooper AT3's for $339. I have the Coopers in stock (4 at least at the moment) and could do them Friday if you need them before the weekend. I throw in the Hunter Road Force balancing for PSB members.

Toyo has just told me that I won't get the Nittos until late Friday if you choose to go that route, but I can still supply them, just very late in the day if you say go. AS the Toyos are the same price, you might choose to get them instead anyway. Just let me know,

After a bit of advice [MENTION=11506]Farkass[/MENTION]. My mate is about to do the Big Lap around Oz. We have bought him a Pajero which is fitted with 265/65/17 Mickey Thompson Baha STZ tyres. They are All Terrain tyres which is good, but they are really, really noisy. I am not sure how old they are, but they have plenty of tread on them. Did I mention they are f**king loud!

Bearing in mind he is going to be doing the Gibb River Road, is he better sticking with these, or would some HT tyres suit him better? Overall the vast majority of the trip will be on bitumen, but he wouldn't want to get stuck on a beach somewhere.

Any thoughts on what he would be best off doing? If he were to replace them all with Bridgestone Dueller H/T 840 for example, what would 6 of them cost?

Hi Morgs,

Given that the existing MT's are noisy (a combination of being worn down and probably out of shape)' I wouldn't want to be putting up with annoying road noise for maybe 20,000 kms. I suggest ditching those before he leaves on his big trip.

He also needs a light truck tyre, so the STZ's or Bridgestone 840 tyres are NOT suitable.

My suggestion is the new Cooper AT3LT. These are the newest tyre for Cooper. Great for a range of terrains but quiet and safe on bitumen even though they are a full, offroad pattern as well, particularly appropriate for the Gibb River Road and similar harsh conditions. They are $332 each and come with an 80,000 kms warranty,

^^ Just be aware of the damage out of round/noisy tyres do to the drive line...^^

The noise comes from somewhere as does the vibes....all that kinetic transfers in accelerated wear..on brg's and joints. let alone the annoyance of big boy tyre whine..

I am assuming you have original Commodore steel rims on your trailer and that you need maybe 2 or 3 tyres in 205/65R15. I have these for $85 each. I can get you a 15x6 black steel rim for $115.

Hi all

Well I just realised I was real churlish in not posting up the excellent service I got last time, my bad.

The current set of RE003's is now mostly done, the fronts are toast, rears prob on their way to the toaster, so gimme the skinny on another set please; 235/35 * 19, 2012 Megane RS265 Trophy 808.

If there's a better option I'd be interested too, some have mentioned the Cooper RS3, etc.

Given the stock adjustments for wheel alignment is toe only I might look to get some adjustable strut mounts; I can get shims for the rear too if needed but need the alignment done to know what (if any) I need to buy.

In a December trackday I'm up against a mate in a BMW with 330bhp & me with just 265bhp so need to make up time everywhere so what I loose in the straight can be gained back, if I can leave the pits before him I should gap him so he has too much to make up in a straight line, if he's out before me I'm prob screwed.

Hi Steve, just wanted an opinion on some decent tyres for a 2006 Mazda3 SP23 manual, it's my 17yr old sons' car and he wants to replace the old tyres that are on it
They aren't worn out quite yet but I'm thinking they may be the original tyres given the car had only ~65k on it when we bought it ~6 months ago as it was owned by an older couple
He's got a bit of a lead foot (like dad) and being front-wheel drive it's not hard to light them up off the mark so were looking to replace them before winter
He was looking at the Bridgie RE003's like on my FG XR6T but I'm wondering if there is something still reasonable handling/grip wise that's a bit cheaper for him?
