  • rider down jandakot?

on the way in this morning seen police and ambos at the roundabout on the corner of jandakot rd and nicolson.

looked like a yellow and white road trail motorbike off to the side. unsure of brand and size.

hopefully not too bad for the guy.

Someone a while back proposed banning rider down threads.

    I'm inclined to agree.

    1) They don't really tell us anything concrete.

    2) If you recognise the bike described, you've just found out your friend/relative has had a potentially serious crash via PSB. Ace!

      3) You might think you recognise the bike described and now you're panicking trying to contact your friend/relative who might have had a potentially serious crash

Been there, done that a few times.

I'm really not sure the purpose of rider down threads. I can only think it's a bit of "I saw it first" combined with "I care about my fellow riders and want to show it" because they don't seem to serve any purpose? In addition to the above, a rider down thread does nothing to change the fact someone is down/doesn't help them in anyway and makes newbies feel like there's a rider down every 5 seconds. I doubt it changes anyone's riding habits either as you are responsible for your actions not what Joe Dickhead did while riding outside his limits. And even if Joe wasn't being a dickhead and got cleaned up by Ditzy Debbie do we take anything away from it given it's just speculation as to what happened?

I don't understand why they get posted either.

So what say you? What's the purpose of rider down threads i.e. why are they posted and what's their purpose?

Could potentially bring death to a live forum.
The only thing wrong with a perfect ride to work is that you end up at work.

Certainly more rider down threads posted when forum was more active, which was before you joined. So forum activity aside, why are they posted? Not looking to validate my thoughts, nor am I trolling. Am truly interested as to why.

People seem to forget that if someone says something you don't like, you're free to tell them to fuck off because they're a retard. Or not respond. This is the internet, do whatever you bloody well want

Its the vagueness of the posts which I think are the issue.
"Bike down" doesnt say much and can cause panic

Meanwhile I can see others having an issue if they binned it and someone posted up about how they'd done so as theyd rather have kept quiet about it.

In saying this, I have just changed my brake lines and tomorrow I'll be bleeding them (which I've never done before). So if there's any rider down threads from Ellenbrook involving a green Kwaka, it was me, and it was brake failure.

Jumping to conclusions is a prerequisite for PSB membership...so is spouting shit and flying off the handle.
