  • 04 R1 UPDATE

Hey all... I was browsing around and found a Dyno Chart from "Wolf Racing" (who manufactures exhaust systems). They have been testing the new 04 R1 with their exhausts.

Now I know Deej was really hanging to see more about the R1 so here goes!

    Blue Trace = Stock 04 R1
    Red Trace = 04 R1 with Wolf Slip-On Exhaust

Bottom scale (X axis) is RPM
Left side scale (Y axis) is HP

I would say it is in horsepower because 165kw works out about 220ish ,and we could only wish that they made that sort of power.

Speaking to Trevor Hedge today regards the new R1, He said he was talking to the Nikon Racing Team and they Dyno the bikes prior to working them and afterwards for comparrisons, the 2003 R1 out of the box Dyno at 136hp rear wheel, the 2004 R1 out of the box Dyno at 158hp at the rear wheel.
Got to be happy with that 8) stick a power commander, sports pipe, K&N or BMC filter on and you will most likely improve that by around 5 to 8hp
Would be nice to get a test ride! might have to talk to the guys at 5 star 8)

Some say he eats sidchrome for breakfast

Some say he only showers on even days of the week

Some say he put an R1 motor in a coffee machine

All we know is he's Hewie.

Spoke to Five Star Yamaha today, they have been told two to four weeks for the new YZF-R1 to turn up, no price from Yamahe yet, but based on last years model retailing for $19,400 ride away it would be a fair bet that it will be around the $20,000 RRP ride away 8)
