Seems a trail bike had a vs truck on the Goldfields Highway near Leinster this afternoon.

Early reports (unsubstantiated) do not sound good for the rider.

Form what I have been able to establish:

New employee (been here a couple of weeks)...well liked, spoke to the room cleaners yesterday morning (because his bike was in the room), had arranged to have drinks with one of my admin girls (this week).

Would have been instantaneous. From initial reports, there was no chance of survival.

However, I feel for the road train driver, who had to stop (probably take 5 - 600 metres to do so) ascertain the issue, make the call for assistance.........and then wait, and wait, and.......

                  RIP.

Bloody hell, +1 for poor truckie. imagine him having no way of avoiding the collision and then having to sit there waiting with the poor riders body. Must've been bloody awful experience for him.

Okay...I have received an email from mine management. It would appear that NOK may have been notified, but I am not 100% sure. To understand this, you need to experience the 'culture' of a mining town (as opposed to a mining village) and the workers culture for safety (i.e. there were whispers that dayshift refused to go down the hole until they knew who it was that was killed).

If anyone NEEDS to know more details, give me a PM.
