Family cars riskier to reverse than 4WDs | NEWS.com.au

    So um....

The fact that unattended, "small children" are playing behind a vehicle being reversed by their parents... unsupervised...

Anyone else see the glaring flaw in this picture not solved by reversing cameras?
“Crashing is shit for you, shit for the bike, shit for the mechanics and shit for the set-up,” Checa told me a while back. “It’s a signal that you are heading in the wrong direction. You want to win but crashing is the opposite. It’s like being in France when you want to go to England and when you crash you go to Spain. That way you’ll never get to England!” -- Carlos Checa

Shame on you thro - reverse facing cameras are the solution to all the worlds problems, well, the problem of all us allegedly hooning motorcyclists. Next time I ride over a little kiddy I'll hang a u-turn and turn the nearest mutanova around 180 degrees so it never happens again.

The kids should be wearing lap belts when running around. Front number plates would help too.

Once again a cottenwool solution to protect people from themselves.

If the government released all the convicted child molesters from 6-10 and then from 2-4, there'd be no unattended children just wandering around, one way or another. It'd make parents pay more attention.

Even a government sponsored child snatcher who'll patrol and nab any children they find, any they get away with will be returned with a negligence fine.

I don't want to sound like the devils advocate here but,
I heard complaints and public outcry about the 18 Month bubby that drowned in a lake in, well in somewhere in Perth. There are calls for all lakes in all parks to have childproof fencing.

Now, playing the D's Advocate here, Parents should have kept a closer eye on the baby as Im pretty sure it would have taken the kid some time to walk out of the house, across the park, into the lake etc. Accidents happen but preventing everyone from accessing a lake because of the actions of one family really is pretty silly.

Same thing applies to this situation, however it will be easy to implement in future with more and more cars being released with decent installations of LCD screens and controls. It would just be another feature in the vehicle.
