Motorcyclists charged with hoon offences : thewest.com.au

Two motorcyclists have been stopped by police after allegedly being caught travelling between 140kmh and 150kmh on the Kwinana Freeway in Como earlier today.
At 12.30am, police were patrolling in Bull Creek when they spotted the Yamaha and Suzuki bikes travelling north on the freeway, allegedly at high speed.
Police allege the motorcycles turned onto Canning Highway and drove at more than 115kmh in a 60kmh zone until Cale Street, where they stopped.
Under State hoon laws police impounded the machines for seven days. Both bikes had been borrowed from the owners.
Officers charged a 39-year-old Como man and a 34-year-old White Gum Valley man with reckless driving and no authority to drive.
The men will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.

Whoever they are, they will be standing in the aisle due to the rather awkward pineapple insertion.

12.30am on the freeway... you mean when its dead quiet and there is no one to hit?

Im not saying they should be let off... but the driving wasnt really of a reckless manner was it?

Also, damn 39y/o P-Plater hoons killing us all!

edit* also, sucks to be the actual owners of the bikes...

So how do the cops know what speed they were going if they weren't actually behind or in front of them?
Reckless driving my ass I'd say I was doing 144 on the freeway and 104 on Canning. No way they could prove otherwise.

It also says the bikes were both borrowed, so the owners probably won't get a pineapple.
But you can bet the saddest, most dejected guy on the train was one of the owners.

If you were the mate, surely you would cough up something in the way of compensation to the owner...

Possibly a s 50A breach: failure to carry and produce documentary evidence of an interstate/overseas licence

                          maybe. Was wondering the same.

wonder if it could mean that the vehicle doesnt belong to the person who was driving, and they didnt have permission to be driving it?

                              The WA Police Service.

Simply put .. just because my mate did something wrong does not mean I can/should be penalized for it by the authorities.

Even though they have authority to confiscate a motorbike .. the reason to do that is to punish and inconvenience the offender. In this case its not the offender thats suffering but a innocent party.

Just because its my bike does not make me responsible for the actions of someone else.

I cant see many Judges agreeing to the WA police service punishing completely innocent people.

So .... if it were my bike in impound for 7 days Id be seeking compensation from the Police.
