    Rider hit by train

    Haven't seen any other threads relating to this.

    Guy got taken out by a train yesterday, he was from my neck of the woods.

      A 55-year-old motorcyclist has been killed after he collided with a freight train at a railway crossing in Mardella south of Perth yesterday.

      The South Lakes man died at the scene of the crash on Lowland Road, which occurred about 3pm.

      It is believed he was trying to beat the freight train at the railway crossing when he was hit.

      Police believe the crossing lights were flashing but said all aspects of the crash will be investigated.

      The accident comes just over a week after a nationwide rail safety campaign was launched to raise awareness of risky behaviour at rail level and pedestrian crossings.

      According to statistics, there are reported 50 serious near misses between motor vehicle and trains at level crossings in WA alone each year, and more than 90 per cent of fatal crashes are attributed to motorist error.

        that sucks RIP surely people know that its better to just wait the couple of minutes it would take for the train to pass then risk it?
