Motorcyclist collides with sign - The West Australian

A motorcyclist has been flown to Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital with serious facial injuries after his bike collided with a sign on the Forrest Highway near Heron Point Road in West Coolup about 3pm today.
Police said the man, who was wearing an open faced helmet, had pulled over to the left side of the road, possibly to attend to a bee sting after he was stung in the neck.
A 4WD travelling in the right hand lane travelling south then started to change lanes as the motorcyclist swerved back onto the road.
The motorcyclist saw the oncoming car, swerved back off the road and hit the 100kmh sign at a speed of about 60kmh.
The Royal Flying Doctor Service attended the scene and flew the man to Perth for treatment.

      Best wishes to the rider!

Just reinforces the arguement against open faced helmets.

          Hope the rider heals well.

            G'Day,

Helmets give a false sence of security. If you ride without one, and do not get blassey about it, you reaslise just how vulnrable you are.

If you realy wanted to be safe on the roads, you would drive a Merc or Volvo. These people crash into everything and can still walk away.

Riding with risk is0.5 of the fun.

            Regards,

            Sooty.

Ouch. Probably looks like the guy in the video with his face split open.

How the hell did he not snap his neck?

Even cruisers tilt to turn at speed. In the minds of sheep. Tilt = Swerve

Farking news outlets. RFDS runs planes, fixed wing only, mainly does transfers of patients, and has nurses and doctors on board. Rescue 65 (the chopper) is a privately run outfit, paid for by government, controlled (supposedly) by St Johns, and sponsored by RAC with a critical care paramedic on board. There is somewhat of a huge difference between the two.

Reminds me why I dont buy the west anymore.
Go soothingly on the grease mud, as there lurks the skid demon! Press the brake foot as you roll around the corners, and save the collapse and tie up.
