Hey guys - great forum. Have had 3 lessons. Will be looking to buy a 250cc - what do you guys recommend for 1st bike. Bike will mainly be used for weekend/leisure as I need to use my ute for work. Bikes on the for sale section looks very attractive.

Bikes are real personal choice items, a bit like cars. Best bet is to figure a budget first, allowing $1000 for helmet+jacket+gloves+pants+boots, then head to a few stealerships and see what feels right for you.

As a first bike, I've always recommended avoiding the faired bikes because they're cheaper to fix when you drop 'em. And if you get a reasonable mechanically, not so pretty but CHEAP secondhand one and look after it, chances are you'll get your money back on it at upgrade time after the R-E year.
