  • I need some encouragement

Hey PSB, I've considered getting my bike licence on and off over the years. Just in the last few weeks that's turned more serious and I am soon to be in a financial position to fund some lessons and a 2 wheeled machine. The only time I've ridden a powered bike (if you can call it that) is when I test rode a scoota a few years back ( I never bought it - went for 4 wheels instead). I am a little nervous making my foray into the bike scene so LethalW referred me here to get advice, look for my first bike and general shenanigans.

So yeah, I basically need some encouragement to take this plunge.

Hope the hear back from yaz.

Go with what you're comfortable with. As an aside - a dirt bike is an excellent way to pick up skills without the added dimension of cars & trucks...

            Welcome to the fraternity

+1 to just going and getting your Ls and doing it.

I rode dirt bikes as a kid and am kicking myself that i didn't bother to get a road bike earlier.
“Crashing is shit for you, shit for the bike, shit for the mechanics and shit for the set-up,” Checa told me a while back. “It’s a signal that you are heading in the wrong direction. You want to win but crashing is the opposite. It’s like being in France when you want to go to England and when you crash you go to Spain. That way you’ll never get to England!” -- Carlos Checa

Thanks guys, that's some rapid-fire responses!

I'll be down to DPI before you know it.

I been browsing around PSB, checking out other threads, what's this 'Bump' business all about? I gather it's something to do with ranking the threads maybe?

                  Bye for now, back tomorrow.

Yeah, do it! It may seem a bit daunting when you have to do the first couple of lesson, but then you will have been bitten by the bug and there'll be no stopping you. Have fun!

I will never tell someone they should ride but what i will tell you is , if it is in your blood, do not restict it, living a life of regret is about the single most useless thing you could do.
Go for lessons with a good school (you will find a few instructors here) and be sure its for you. Consider a road trail to enhance your bike control skills on dirt before you hit the highways.

Totally agree, wasted too many years wanting, but not getting my own.
Once you get it, you will definately regret wasting so much time!!!
