  • USA Laguna Seca MotoGP

This weekend is the USA MotoGP weekend.
Yamaha has a special livery with 500 face pictures displayed on their fairing.
    Looks pretty yukky.
When is Qualifying being broadcast by the way?
The time difference with USA might make the live broadcast an unusual time.

Stoner hot off the mark at Laguna Seca

      Friday, 23 July 2010
The Ducati Team rider was over two-tenths of a second faster than Jorge Lorenzo, as he got within 0.021s of the Spaniard’s 2009 pole position time in the opening practice session at the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix.

      Laguna Seca 2010 - MotoGP - FP1 - highlights

Casey Stoner found an immediately fast pace at Laguna Seca as he took top spot on the timesheet from Jorge Lorenzo just before the midway point of the first practice, and he did not relinquish it as he lapped consistently fast for the rest of the session having switched bikes early on following some dissatisfaction with his front-end feeling.
Inside the final five minutes the Australian posted his best effort of 1’21.699, just 0.021s off Lorenzo’s pole time from last year, and that left the Ducati Team rider 0.233s clear at the top of the timesheet. Fiat Yamaha rider and Championship leader Lorenzo was the only other rider under the 1’22” mark, as he also made a fast start to his weekend with a best of 1’21.932.
Andrea Dovizioso was the highest placing Honda rider in the session as he took his factory RC212V around in a best time of 1’22.225, just over half a second off Stoner’s pace. The Italian’s Repsol Honda colleague Dani Pedrosa, who won last year’s race at the track, was fourth quickest at a further three-tenths down on his team-mate’s time.
Monster Yamaha Tech 3 rider Ben Spies was the highest placing American rider in the session, the rookie – albeit riding on one of the few tracks he has experienced before – setting a best time of 1’22.640 towards the end to secure fifth. Valentino Rossi (Fiat Yamaha) was sixth and also the last rider within a second of Stoner, as the recovering Italian put in a best time 0.961s off that of Stoner’s.
American duo Nicky Hayden (Ducati Team) and Colin Edwards (Monster Yamaha Tech3) were seventh and eighth respectively, with Marco Melandri (San Carlo Honda Gresini Team) and Aleix Espargarَ (Pramac Racing) rounding out the top ten.
Marco Simoncelli (San Carlo Honda Gresini Team) had a crash at turn three very early in the session but was uninjured and returned to the track to go 12th fastest, and Randy de Puniet’s substitute on the LCR Honda team Roger Lee Hayden was just under four seconds off Stoner in 17th as he took his first ride on the satellite RC212V.

The Fiat Yamaha Team unveiled their one-off Laguna Seca livery this afternoon, with both Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo present. The livery celebrates the impending release of the Fiat 500 car in the United States and features the faces of 500 fans on the fairing of both bikes.

Images of the new livery are online at Fiat Yamaha Team 2010 MotoGP Media Web Site now.

Dainese presents the new leathersuits that Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo will wear at the Laguna Seca Gran Prix which takes place next Sunday in California.

During the US race the Dainese riders will show a special celebrating livery required by Fiat Automobiles to celebrate the next Fiat 500 launch in the US market.

The leathers for the Fiat Yamaha team feature a black and yellow color in addition to the 500 faces of fans on the arms and legs.
The leathers, that on this occasion will be white, black and yellow colored, have been customized on the front, back, arms and legs with the photos of the faces of 500 fans that first sent their picture within a dedicated event. In this way they will have the chance to be “present” on the technical equipment and the Yamaha bikes of the 2 champions.

The winners’ faces have been printed on the perforated lorica leather of the Dainese suits: the final effect is that of a very original black and white poster, composed by the stylized faces of the lucky fans.

While we're betting, i reckon it will be a spaniard.

Honda have sorted their shit out, pedrosa is around fourth in practice, but he'll nail the start and fuck off
“Crashing is shit for you, shit for the bike, shit for the mechanics and shit for the set-up,” Checa told me a while back. “It’s a signal that you are heading in the wrong direction. You want to win but crashing is the opposite. It’s like being in France when you want to go to England and when you crash you go to Spain. That way you’ll never get to England!” -- Carlos Checa
