  • Honda Confirms Barros for Top Ride

Following the recent announcement by Alex Barros in Brazil that he is free to seek a new Moto GP ride for 2004, Honda Racing Corporation today (20/1/04) can confirm that the Brazilian will ride alongside Nicky Hayden in the official HRC Repsol Honda Team.

Barros should be fit for testing Febuary 11th / 12th / 13th at Sepany Malaysia and then down to Phillip Island Febuary 17th to 19th, following shoulder surgery before Christmas. He will be joined by former Crew Chief Ramon Forcada, who worked with Barros for two years under the West Honda Pons Team in 2001 - 2002.

Barros, it will seem may face a lengthy and potentially expensive legal battle with Yamaha due to Barros having 1 year left on his contract. Barros is understood to be facing a $2.6m penalty clause for walking out on Yamaha.
