  • Goldfields vs Racecraft

    Guys

Has anyone had the fortune to attend both of these courses?

I am curious as to why GMS costs so much. Does it offer you more in the way of instruction? Or track time?

Would love to get some feedback.

    Cheers

    Each to there own realy!

Both are good for improving your skill, and both supply good instructors and advice.

Goldfields supply lunch, while Racecraft don't. For myself I prefer Racecraft days, if your a member of the club its only $100 for the day, get your race licence and its only $50 a day.
    Good cheap fun. 8)

When I last did Racecraft they supplied lunch. You get a voucher for hotdogs or something like that. I never used it but it was there if I wanted it. Racecraft is also done under MA sanction so AFAIK you are covered by their motorcycle racers insurance if you get hurt. I may be wrong but I believe that's the case. Check with the club - 9409 1002.
You also get _actual_ tuition by _actual_ racers that are there to help you learn rather than just for free track time. If you want some one-on-one advice you only have to ask one of the instructors. Unofficial at this time but MCRC has asked me to assist with on-board video during future Racecraft days to aid the teaching process.

        Racecraft

I am certainly not there for the lunch!!

I chose to do Racecraft (with MCRC membership) coz I figured they are the 'real deal' and as racers would be able to offer the best advice on technique which is what I am after. Also with about 8 days a year for $100 each if you are a member it is very good value. As for personal instruction I was really pleased that one of the instructors followed me during two of the sessions and we had a good de-brief about it each time. Can't ask for more than that!

But I guess each to their own. I was just interested to know if there was something significantly different between the two.

        Cheers

One other thing to remember, If you don't ask - you don't get. Found that both groups have racers with them, and both are willing to help you, but you have to ask for help, unless you are a hazard to yourself and others they will come up to you.

As I said, Racecraft for me. 8)
