  • Kings and Stars of Wanneroo

Next weekend is Kings and Stars of Wanneroo.

Kings of Wanneroo is open to A and B grade riders,

Stars of Tomorrow is open to C and D grade riders.

So if you are free Sunday afternoon come down and support your local forum members as they try there best to knock each other down the time charts (all in fun of coarse)

Ben will be our best chance for kings of Wanneroo, but if Leroy enters he could also be up there with his very impressive times from last race day.

As for Stars of Tomorrow this will be close, with good numbers (Larry - Leroy - David - Alan - Tex) it should be a great race to watch, my pick will be Leroy with his very impressive times running around the 63's with a best time of 62.5 will be hard to beat. With Larry and David running around the 64 to 65 second mark and Tex and Alan pushing them along.
Both Alan and Tex are short of track time and bike set up, so you can expect them to get quicker  As for myself I will miss the round, I will be in Queensland

Practice and Qualifying 9am to midday, Racing starts 12pm
    Try and make

From memory I think I entered the Stars and Kings but I'm still battling to get much better than mid sixes so far but going back to Pirelli was a step in the right direction.
Hopefully with a lot of work on Friday I can get the suspension properly sorted though my plan is to burn up some of the old rubber cluttering my yard :-)
I ran the camera on Saturday and got some unusual footage.
I strapped it to my right forearm, right knee, helmet and the fairing in front of my right hand looking back which was the best.
The helmet cam is boring as hell since you can't see any of the bike and you don't get any sensation of lean. It's also useless to learn anything from as my head moves too far from the centreline of the bike making it impossible to see what line I'm on.
On the knee is difficult too as the camera rolls inverted when I stick my knee out.
I'll try some other positions on Friday.

I found the Bridgestone's sucked harder than reality TV. Expect to have to seriously soften your front and rear damping and probably tyre pressures as well. They're $100 cheaper than the Pirelli's but they'd need to be half the price and I'd want four half-days of private practice for $50 a time to set them up properly before I'd bother trying them again.
The advantage is having Brett Preston on hand to help you sort them out but I doubt he'll be there Friday unless you ask him to come up.
I have no doubt the tyres will do the job but I'm not prepared to put in all that effort again when I'm already familiar with the Pirelli's.
If you read the FAQ at www.wd40.com you should treat your tyres to a liberal dose of WD40 before you race...let me know if it works ;-)

                          Tyre Choice

Tyre Choice is just that, choice. Each to their own in what they prefer.

Just because a tyre doesn't work for you does no mean the tyre is shit.

I know two top A Graders (One is the current/defending Supersport Champion) who have changed from Pirelli to Bridgestone because they found that the Pirelli did not suit the new track surface for them.

Whereas running the Bridgestone, their tyre wear has eased and times have dropped.

                          Horses for courses.

That's true. As I said, I'm quite sure the tyre can do the job but it's not for me.
Last I spoke with Strett he wasn't sure which tyre he was going to use as he'd tried them all with little success.

                              Tyres

I spoke to Strett as I was leaving on Saturday and his words to be exact were

"I've finally found a tyre that is holding up".

I said "What brand are you using then"

                              He said "Bridgestone SS"
