  • "Johnny Rea" Trakdayz 15th November

I see that Trakdayz are running a track day with Johnny Rea as the special guest.

It's called the Johnny Rea Ride Day and costs $500 each.

It is limited to 25 places. According to the website 8 places are already sold.

Also attending is IOM specialist Keith Amor

I'm tempted but $500 is a bit pricey and Collie is the next weekend.

Hrm bit pricey for me, do you think you'd still be able to come down and watch for free though?

Johnny Rea had better be giving blowjobs out the back for that kind of money.

How are they justifying the cost? Is he getting paid a heap for it? You can ride with Kevin Schwants at his school for less than that (just).

If thy can seel it out, good on em' but as a budget racer that is way too much for me to spend.

seriously...is he gonna blow ur mind with some "well der, i get it now, lets go do some 57's" kinda info?

no amount of money can make u a better rider, except for track time costs. any tips needed, im sure the local staff are well and truly able to help out.

i cant see the money in it

Uhhh their business decision I guess... isn't he (possibly) racing in Kings anyway? I'll show him how it's done then. For $180. He can get a good view of my lines around lap 9 when he laps me

Yeah, I'm never going to be able to afford that. Hopefully those that can get their money's worth and he actually teaches them something and gives them some of his vast knowledge.
I'll just wait for kings and go have a chat to him. Cam Donald and Bruce Anstey were very approachable and easy to talk to last year. and that was free.

As awesome as it would be to learn from someone like him I couldn't justify that amount.

for racers doing <61 sec laps this could be beneficial. Once you get into the competitive area for the front runners it is hard to get the help and advice to beat them.

                  Can you imagine this scenario:

"Hey Johnny ... I need know how to do 57s laps"

Johnny takes you aside out of earshot of others ... and whispers

"Look all you need to do is brake later, go through the corners faster and accelerate earlier"

"Gee thanks Johnny. I'll try that right now"

                  20 minutes later:

"Would someone call the ambulance ..."

Jonathan Rea and Andrew Pitt will probably do demo laps at Kings in the 56's

Don't bitch and moan about the cost. If you can't afford it or don't see the value, don't go.

This is a rare opportunity to do a track day and get coached by the bloke who won the last WSB race. You will get to brag about the time you rode with Jonny Rea. If you catch him pulling in to the pits you might even be able to say you passed him.

The MCRC goes out on a limb to make the Kings happen. The riders come a long way to participate and the need to be occupied to make it worthwhile. At least Trakdayz have the balls to try. I can't think of many offer people lining up to organise rides with world class riders suburban WA.

And no, I'm not going because I don't have the talent or the $. I did do a track day with Brock Parks and that was well worthwhile. Brock mainly laughed as Russell Nash took the piss out of him and pointed out mistakes with the black lines he left around the track.
