  • Issue's from Rides

Just thought I'd chuck any PM's sent to me in regards to rides, received thsi one for the ride on the 9th of June, from one of the young ladies

    Hey Sandra,

Didn't get a chance to chat to you at the mid point or pub but we had a couple of issues with one of the riders.

He was on a white two-stroke Suzuki 250.

He overtook us on a couple of corners and also undertook us at times. He was also doing wheelies in stupid places (we were right behind the learners) and generally didn't seem to be in control of his bike.

Anywho, just thought you should know for future rides.

    Cheers for a good one

    Liz

I believe sS had words with him at a set of lights on the way to the dinner stop.

Well overall I thought it wasn't too bad by all concerned.
There will always be some small issues with CM's and riders, but I think we are on the right track.
All corners were marked, no one got lost This in itself is not too unusual, but 74 bikes last night was more than I thought we'd get and also the L's seemed to spread out more than usual between Stoney and the orange.
I just have a concern for this route.
The leaving point from JCS, I don't like the idea of coming out through the gate, across the footpath and someone blocking/holding up the traffic to the on ramp. This is actually illegal to do, we are not authorised to impede traffic flow. I'd much prefer we went back up the lane and out at the lights. At the Pre Ride brief let everybody know that we will be going through the tunnel and getting of at Powis St, 4-5 cm's head out first so they don't get caught at the lights.
Or possibly leaving from the other servo on GEH.

agree with rob about the start. Also seeing 2 people nearly drop there bikes doing that turn, it's gonna happen sooner or later. And with such a narrow exit, took the pack ages to get out....
Pretty sure the guy in question was on a cbr600 with custom plastics (could have been wrong), didn't see any ning-nings except a new rs125 that was being ridden slowly. He changed lanes at two intersections quickly and without looking, just to get ahead, nearly cleaning up a few cm's going down the right lane. This was near cot on the way to dinner, didn't see him after dinner.

I know which bike she meant. There was a white rgv there. He raced Kristy and I off the lights a couple of times and accelerated harder than he expected off one set of lights and the bike nearly left him behind. He was quiet after that. I didn't see him for a chat.

Sandra, Don't like that route for the ride tonight
            http://www.perthstreetbikes.com/foru...#gmessage29873

First half is OK, second half, too long and straight after Alfreds.

nice work stepping up Rob. Much appreciated. Ride was half hour too long tho. Maybe should have made a decision to straightline it to the servo once on guildford rd or something? As usual with Alfreds, late to leave after eating and nearly 10 minutes marking corners for stragglers makes for a long second half. Also note some learners (general comment, no names needed) either struggle with basic speed limit riding or are a lil too aggressive/follow too close etc. Was gonna pull up a couple (not to have a go, but some education/advice) but didn't want the second half to drag out past 10pm.

Just thought as a reminder to all us cm's to remember to queue up and not overtake other cm's who are waiting to move in front of the orange vest to mark corners, everyone will get there turn.. Happened a few times last night.

Also Rob will you be giving the other cm's access to this group as there seem to be a few missing who I don't think have access to this group as yet.

                Cheers

@ sS - I wanted to complete the route as it was, coz it was new to me and wanted you all to give feedback on it, as I didn't like the return trip on paper, especially not in winter.(any feedback is good).

@ the Green man,cm's access????,,,,, who?????

Sorry ST you had already added Tash, I just didn't notice but thought as she had CM'd a couple of times recently she would require access and I see you have now already added the 3 new ones so all good.

Can we decide on who is going to give the talk on a weekly basis, we did a good one a few weeks back at the east perth start point and the ride was pretty good imho, and also agree on the short sharp points that need to be mentioned, puhleaaaaaaaaaasse

IMHO I think some one like yourself who could asset your authority a little easier would be good for this actually.

As long as the message is scripted it shouldn't matter who gives it.

Yeah true I was going along the line of appearence generally speaks quite better than the words said. Some one with my appearence generally doesnt 'command' attention or adherence. Ive noticed that more often than not people are still socialising while these briefs are going on any way. I think something needs to be done about that.

As Im sure none of us want another repeat of Mr. ZZR last week (Although I dont even think a brief will fix some one like that.

Another thought I was contemplating today. Would it be fair to say that there shouldnt really be 250s down the back as I have found the two times I have TECed generally they all cause dramas by almost killing themselves or eachother.

Just a thought. Please say if Im over stepping the mark.

Wasnt thinking of a script, just agreement on what needs to be said, similiar to stoney's ten points, but ride specific, like no undertaking, single file into roundabouts, ride is about the r e learners as much as it is about the R learners, and the learning to ride in a group thing, etc etc etc, short sharp - AUTHORITATIVE, then we can all get on with going for a ride and having some fun
